Average Weekly Salary in US Increases
The average weekly salary in the U.S. has increased. The U.S. DOL published a final rule change in 2019 which requires employers to pay a minimum weekly salary of $684 or $35,568 annually.
On September 24, 2019, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) published a final rule change that requires employers to pay employees a minimum weekly salary of $684 or ($35,568 annually) in order to be considered “exempt” from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) “white collar” overtime requirements beginning January 1, 2020.
This is significant increase from the current $23,660/year and is reflective of the $15/minimum wage being implemented in many parts of the country. The DOL final rule also increased the highly compensated threshold to $107,432. Please note that states may have higher exemption rates.
