1. What is your job role?

Payroll Specialist.

2.  What does a typical day in your role involve?

A typical day always involves prepping for the next upcoming payroll, which includes:

  • Checking and answering emails

  • Checking and answering tickets (address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and the PGC team etc.)

  • Entering and reviewing invoices

  • Running payroll reports

  • Checking timesheets for accuracy

  • Processing terminations and new hires

  • Entering time off requests

  • Processing any employee updates to their direct deposit, demographic information and their taxes

  • Setting up garnishments, deductions and processing manual checks

  • Completing unemployment information requests

  • Auditing payroll data for accuracy

A lot goes into the payroll process, but the basic flow is entering, importing, proofing, editing and transmitting payroll. Everything we do as a team is to ensure the accuracy and timely execution of every payroll that gets finalized.

3. How/why did you get into the payroll industry?

I was introduced to payroll by a colleague whilst at a previous employer at a stage in my life where I was looking for something new and more challenging. Math was never my strong suit but somehow, I’m completely intrigued by math when it is applied to real life and money. Makes perfect sense?!

4. What do you like the most about working in payroll at PGC?

The work pace and the energy that is brought each day by the team.

5. When does your competitive streak strike?

When a task seems impossible, or I’m told that I cannot execute a task within a given timeframe. 

6. What is one interesting thing about you your colleagues may not know?

I love the countryside!

7. What is your idea of the perfect day?

Alone, complete relaxation and sleep.

8. If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would that be?

A green salad with fresh fruits, caramelized nuts and goat cheese

“If you want something to grow, feed it!”

Love a good book! But honestly, TV is slowly becoming a real winner.
